Catch The Wave

Posted on 18 November 202227 January 2023

In November of 2022, Olivia accompanied Brian Butt of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Affordable Housing Consultant Hope Jamieson to speak on affordable housing solutions at The 2nd Annual Regional Fall Tourism Forum “Catch the Wave”. The morning consisted of presentations and discussions on how organizations and communities can get started, build capacity, and secure funding. Olivia presented OHA’s journey in building an organization and discussed the barriers and challenges the project has faced thus far. The presentation ended with a discussion on the need for seasonal staff housing – a concern expressed by most local business on the peninsula.

Thank you to Rebecca Wolfe, Project Manager for Strategic Tourism for Areas and Regions (STAR) and to The Bonavista-Trinity Regional Chamber of Commerce for organizing and hosting!

Brian Butt, Hope Jamieson, Olivia White
