Partners for Climate Protection Program
Posted on
We’re excited to share that the Town of Port Rexton, with support from the Otter Housing Association, has joined the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program, a national network of over 450 municipalities working together to take action on climate change.
By joining this initiative, offered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Town has access to valuable resources like tools, guides, and networking opportunities to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions community-wide.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve already achieved Milestone 1: Creating a baseline emissions inventory!
To help guide our next steps, we’ve established a Climate Action Working Group—a group helping us move through the remaining PCP milestones:
- Milestone 2: Setting an emissions reduction target
- Milestone 3: Developing a local climate action plan
- Milestone 4: Implementing the climate action plan
- Milestone 5: Monitoring and reporting results
Through this process, we aim to reduce emissions, save municipal dollars, improve air quality, support green jobs, and enhance the health of our community. Community involvement is key—we’re committed to working hand-in-hand with residents, businesses, and community groups throughout the program.
